Meet Ali Fulton
Holistic Licensed Mental Health Therapist
I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor located in Port Townsend, on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. In 2019 I earned a graduate degree with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA and an undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Marymount University in Arlington, VA in 2009.
I am a Registered Yoga Instructor through the Yoga Alliance since 2013 and have certifications in Trauma-Informed Yoga and Trauma-Sensitive Yin Yoga. I also hold a certification in Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy and Ecopsychology.
I identify as Anglo/Nordic-North American as my ancestors predominantly are from Germany, Scandinavia and Britain, I also identify and hold close the practices of a smaller percentage of my ancestors who were born on the continent called North America.

Growing up on the East Coast I spent a lot of time outdoors in nature, playing sports, swimming, reading and exploring. I continue to enjoy these activities and all that the Olympic Peninsula has to offer including backpacking, hiking, camping, kayaking, swimming, gardening, moving my body with yoga and laying on the earth when I get the opportunity.

Akashic Shadow Counseling & Healing Arts
What does it all mean?
The
Akashic
In Tibetan Buddhism, Akasha is the basis and essence of all things in the material world, essentially, the first element.

The Akashic Records are not unlike an ancient library system collecting every thought, idea, action, experience that has ever been, is currently or will be, stored in the Akasha.

The more we can study our experiences, we may be open to recognize patterns, accept them and move forward with insight; we may use the Akashic for a metaphor for understanding ourselves.
Holistic Counseling
Within each person is a source for healing, that once the mind and body can connect, can be found. Using a holistic approach recognizes one's environmental, social, emotional, biological, spiritual and evolutionary aspects.
Psychotherapy, wilderness- and nature-focused, body-centered arts create an opportunity for connection and healing in our current world.
The Shadow
A shadow is a dark area where light from a source is blocked by an object. In psychology, shadow healing is a process where the individual seeks to turn inward, introspective toward what we may perceive as our own darkness, or shadowed self.
The archetype of the Shadow exists as an exploration of our unconscious mind and is composed of repressed ideas, perceived weaknesses, desires, instincts and perceived shortcomings. Ultimately, these shadowed parts serve purpose in our lives, showcasing where we see inadequacy in ourselves and either wish to change or accept as being human.
In the practice of mindfulness toward these shadowed aspects, we are opening our minds to the idea of the paradox that we must accept ourselves as we are if we are going to change how they affect how we want to show up in the world.
By knowing and embodying our shadow, we are more aware and capable of adaptation, acceptance, growth and change without feeling overrun by our perceived flaws and inadequacies.
Healing Arts
Healing Arts references the craft of numerous therapeutic practices, often discovered based on one's spiritual and experiential connections.
Different from the sciences, the arts are an intuitive and curious form of healing where one may connect with creative and exploratory practices to find emotional, mental, physical and spiritual supports and resources.
